Dear Parents/Guardians:

This letter is to inform you that your son/daughter will take the SAT exam (free of charge) on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Attendance on this day is mandatory. The state of Illinois no longer administers the PARCC assessment to high school students. The SAT is utilized for juniors to assist them as they make advancements towards college/careers.

Scores may be sent to any college that the student is considering attending. Students have up to four choices to select when completing the pre-administration process. Students will receive an optional survey and informational pamphlet that will be sent home with them the week of March 27th. These should be returned no later than April 4th to Mrs. Porter’s office in Room 239.  Pre-administration work will be completed after spring break during history classes.

The one day exam will take place on Wednesday, April 5th. Clock tower doors will open at 7:40 a.m. The building will be secured at 8:30 a.m., with no exceptions. Students will not be allowed to enter after this time. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Breakfast, snacks, and drinks will be provided free of charge. Bus transportation will run on the “regular” bus schedule-NOT Early Bird (1st period) bus schedule.

On the day of the exam, students should bring the following:

  1. Dress in layers to be comfortable in the testing environment
  2. Bring a battery operated calculator if they have one available. (
  3. Students should bring their driver’s license or state ID.

Cell phones, audio players, electronics, cameras, smart watches are not to be brought to school. A school ID and pencils will be provided at the time students register that morning.

You are especially important to the success of your student. You can help by giving positive guidance before the assessment and by boosting your child’s confidence by encouraging them to put forth their best effort. If you have any questions regarding the exam, please call Assistant Principal, Betsy Porter at 444-1509 or email her at We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing the results of our efforts.
