Revised 2015-2016 Uniform Standard of Dress

Shirts/Tops/Sweatshirts:
Students may wear the following types of shirts, sweatshirts, and tops: GRADES K-8:
• Any solid colored shirt with a collar. 
• School shirt t-shirts allowed on school Spirit Days only.GRADES 9-12:
• Collared polo or dress shirts, long or short sleeved in any color (all solid colors, all striped colors, all patterns, and all trim colors).GENERAL GUIDELINES (GRADES K-12):
• Turtle necks allowed.
• Commercially produced crew-neck sweatshirts  (with or without a district/school logo) with a collared shirt underneath will be allowed at all grade levels (no hoodies).
• All shirts/tops may be tucked in. In the event they are not tucked in, shirts/tops must fall below the waist, but not be longer than three inches below the waist.
• Polo and collared shirts are to be buttoned within two buttons from the top.
• No midriff may be exposed.
• Logo (hand-sized) on the front of shirt/top allowed.School

Sweaters/Sweater Vests:Students may wear sweaters or sweater vests in all solid colors, all striped colors, all patterns, and all trim colors as long as a collared shirt meeting the requirements of shirts/tops is worn underneath.

Khakis or Dress Pants/Shorts/Skirts/Skorts:
Students may wear pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts in solid navy blue, black, gray, brown or tan/khaki, subject to the following restrictions:
• Pants must be worn at the waist.
• Must be no shorter than fingertip length plus one inch for shorts, skirts, and skorts.
• Capris pants are allowed as long as they meet the requirements herein.
• No flannel/fleece.
• No denim.
• No sweatpants/wind fabrics.
• No leather.
• No mesh.
• No nylon/vinyl/spandex.
• No leggings/jeggings unless worn under a skirt (leggings and jeggings must be solid navy blue, black,  white, gray, brown or tan/khaki in color).
• Patterned skirts are allowed for grades 9-12
• No bib-overalls.

Dresses/Jumpers:Students may wear dresses and jumpers subject to the following restrictions:

• A dress must have short or long sleeves.
• A jumper must have a shirt underneath that meets the requirements of shirts/tops listed above.
• Tights, leggings, and jeggings may be worn in solid colors under a dress or jumper (tights, leggings and jeggings must be solid navy blue, black, white, gray, brown or tan/khaki in color).
• No low cut.
• No flannel/fleece.
• No sweatpants/wind fabrics.
• No denim.
• No leather.
• No mesh.

Additional Standards of Dress:
• Belts may be worn.
• No flip-flops or house slippers may be worn.
• Footwear must have a closed heel or back strap.
• Dress scarves may be worn.
• Jackets may be worn in classrooms due to variations in building temperatures — no hoods are allowed.
• Kenneth D. Bailey Academy follows the Grade 9-12 guidelines.
• No hoodies are allowed.
