A message from Cristin Prince for Seniors who plan to attend DACC

Due to COVID-19, DACC Discover Days will, unfortunately, be canceled. I have formatted a plan for your high school seniors that will help in preparing them for the summer and fall of 2020, just like DDD would have, but without having to come to campus!

To register for classes:

  • Your students will call and schedule a phone advisement appointment with Jessica Aquino. The contact information for Advisement & Counseling is (217) 443-8750 or email Jessica Aquino: jaquino3@dacc.edu. The voicemail and email will continue to be monitored. With this, they will be set up with a time to call in and be advised by one of our many amazing advisors.

  • Once the social band has lifted, students may come in and see me at any time for questions, concerns, or if they would like to hear from a certain professor or department, I can always schedule a time for the student to come and speak with that faculty member/department.

  • As for those students who have not gotten to test yet, I still need to work out those details. I am going to work with the testing center to see what we can come up with!

  • June 8-19. DDD Tours
    • Tours will be conducted every two hours, with 20 students per tour (this may change depending on the CDC guidelines with COVID-19). Students can reach out to me to  secure a spot. They will take place at 10, 12, two and four. Their families are welcome to join in on the tour as well! If for some reason students need to do the tours outside of these two weeks, I will be more than happy to schedule other times as well!

  • Orientations will be conducted online/by phone/ VIA the website so that they can get registered for classes.
    • Orientation documents will also be scanned so that I can send each student the orientation materials VIA email. I can also conduct ZOOM orientations with three students at a time, so this allows me to reach more than one student at a time!
    • I can also conduct orientations over the phone if they feel more comfortable doing this, or if they do not have a computer. I can also have students call into ZOOM so that I can do the orientation with more than one student at a time.
    • Orientations can also be conducted, online by the student if they go to this link: https://launch.comevo.com/dacc. This should take no longer than an hour, and once they are done, they can call to register for classes.
